About Ozzie Mitson

Ozzie Mitson is a lifelong resident of Allen County and the Republican candidate for Allen County Commissioner in District 2.

Born and raised in Fort Wayne, Ozzie graduated from Carroll High School before studying Communications at IPFW and beginning his career in public service. After interning on Capitol Hill for a member of Indiana’s congressional delegation and in the White House during the first term of President George W. Bush, Ozzie returned home to serve as a key member of Congressman Mark Souder’s district staff. In this role, he worked directly with Hoosiers to address their needs and concerns while helping advance conservative principles at the federal level.

Following his time at the federal level, Ozzie became Director of Government Affairs for the Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce, where he built partnerships that connected businesses with opportunities for growth. He later served as Public Information Officer and Business and Government Liaison with the City of Fort Wayne. In these roles, he helped drive economic development initiatives that created jobs, supported local entrepreneurs, and improved quality of life across the community.

Ozzie then returned to the private sector, taking on leadership positions in government affairs for Lutheran Health Network, and currently serving as Director of Government Affairs for IU Health Fort Wayne. He was instrumental in the expansion of medical services in Allen County in 2017 and continues to use his extensive network at the local, state, and federal levels to ensure Hoosiers have access to exceptional, affordable and transparent healthcare close to home.

He has served in numerous volunteer leadership roles including as a member of the City of Fort Wayne Ethics Board, where he remains committed to advancing integrity and accountability in local government, as President of the Alcoholic Beverage Commission of Allen County, and as a board member for St. John Chrysostom Orthodox Church, Fort Wayne Trails, Fort Wayne Embassy, and the Watersong Community Homeowners’ Association.

Ozzie lives in Fort Wayne with his wife Nikki, and together they are raising their three children, Elena, Jack, and Christopher. They are members of St John Chrysostom Antiochian Orthodox Church and active participants in local sports programs and school activities.
